BRIEF SUMMARY:
Housewife Endo Mayumi (Suzuki Kyoka) bends
over backwards to build and move into a small but dream home in an exclusive
neighbourhood. Her dream should have been fulfilled. However, her daughter Ayaka
(Sugisaki Hana), who has failed her junior high school exams, gets violent at
home and her husband Keisuke (Miyasako Hiroyuki) develops a phobia of family.
Mayumi is also bullied by Satoko (Natsuki Mari) the meddlesome wife of the
neighbourhood council president, Kojima. On the other hand, the Takahashis live
opposite the Endos in a luxurious house. The husband Hiroyuki (Tanaka Tetsushi)
is a high flying doctor who runs a hospital. His wife Junko (Ishida Yuriko) is a
beauty. Their eldest daughter Hinako (Miyazaki Karen) goes to the elite private
high school that Ayaka failed to qualify for while their second son Shinji
(Nakagawa Taishi) excels at sports. In addition, their eldest son Yoshiyuki
(Yasuda Shota) lives alone in Kansai as he attends medical college. The
Takahashis should have had a comfortable, happy life in a wonderful environment.
But one day, a murder occurs at the Takahashis who look like the picture of
happiness. The husband is killed. Thinking that the murderer is someone close
that the husband knows by sight, the police proceed with the investigation. But
their second son who should have been at home, goes missing on the day of the
incident. The police (Takahashi Katsunori), the Takahashis’ surviving children,
the Endos who have been listening out for commotion at the Takahashis as well as
the neighbouring Kojimas begin to wonder if the boy is the real criminal …
