假幣做工精巧，可以蒙騙過最先進的鑒定機器，盡管如此，卻故意做成可以清楚明白這就是假幣的樣子。 究竟是誰，又爲了什麽把假幣給了流浪漢。
另一方面，警視廳搜查二課搜查官宮園惠梨香潛入有洗錢嫌疑的珠寶店進行調查。 調查過程中，操縱著巨額資金的投資家野野宮進入了她的視野，企圖和她有進一步的接觸。
警視廳爲了調查假幣的源頭，傳喚了人稱貓頭鷹的假幣鑒定專家。然後他發現了隱藏在假幣裏的給自己的信息。
每個人各種想法混亂交織的過程中，惠梨香逐漸被捲入到野野宮的計劃裏，她也逐漸知曉了他真正的目的。
