外務省工作竊取情報，結識到電腦工程師中山美穗，但阿武怕美穗洩露其身分，也用刀插美穗，令可憐的美穗活在刀口邊沿。
這齣充滿了浪漫與懸疑雙重魅力的作品，男主角金城武展現了台港日好萊塢多元化發展後的演技張力，在戲劇開場時飾演沒有名字的神祕男子，手刃親弟弟的無奈場面，從電梯裡救出中山美穗的超人表現，還有與中山美穗之間情愫，都值得觀眾細細品味。
演藝資歷深厚的中山美穗，在「兩千年之戀」裡扮演一個出色的電腦程式設計工程師，在卓越的事業表現中，感受到工作所無法填滿的人生孤寂，原本在固定的生活軌道中，煩惱著癡戀不求長進的妹妹，忙碌於工作的步調中，卻在一九九九年的最後一天，意外因為因應Y2K問題，在外務省結識別著「野上」(金城武飾)名牌的男子。
