BRIEF SUMMARY:
At a church in 2011,
Nagareta Enishi gives Nagatomo Emiri a bouquet of statice and purple anemone,
and proposes. However, several days later, Enishi wakes up in darkness. He is
for some reason covered in injuries and what comes into view is a fallen Emiri.
The traces of blood on Emiri’s chest spread wide, and the bouquet of flowers he
had given have been offered in tribute. Why are he and Emiri in this place?
Enishi cannot understand this. Then, detectives burst in … … In 2014, Ishinomaki
Sakurako is molested in a crowded lift. When the elevator door opens, Sakurako
grabs the arm of Shikato Sumio who has been standing beside her and yells that
he is a molester. Sumio insists on his innocence, but appears to whisked away by
the security officer(s) that rushed over. Then a tousled hair man with a donut
in one hand appears. He tells Sumio that if he is innocent, he will prove it and
holds out a namecard. It is Enishi. Enishi works for a private forensics lab
called Chiyoda Forensic Science Institute. Asked by a desperate Sumio to
investigate, Enishi establishes Sumio’s innocence through the fingerprints left
on Sakurako’s skirt and even determines the real culprit. However, Sumio who is
supposed pay him, disappears before he realises it. Back at the institute,
Enishi is reprimanded by Chiyoda Maki, the head of the institute for not getting
paid. Her anger also spills over to Matsui Jotaro, Komiyama Shoko, Tasaka
Shigeru and other staff members. The next day, Sakurako visits the institute.
She asks Enishi and the others to uncover the truth of her father’s death. Three
months ago, her father Masao died in a fire at the factory he operated. The
insurance company concluded that he had committed suicide because he was up to
his neck in debt and refused to make a payout. Enishi immediately sets about
analysing the charred items taken from the scene.
