BRIEF SUMMARY:
Blessed with looks, intellect and wealth, Arikawa Takashi (Kitamura Kazuki) is a
man who aims to reach the pinnacle of power. Raised as the son of a
distinguished family, that has hospitals across the country, Arikawa, who works
as a bureaucrat at the Ministry of Finance, has an established reputation of an
elite government official. He gets engaged to Shirai Naoko (Uehara Misa), the
daughter of an important Diet member who seeks a “political marriage” for money
when her father’s financial base is weakened. Naoko’s appearance puts an end to
the dreams of marriage of Sasayama Nobuko (Koike Eiko), a successful currency
dealer, who has had a romantic relationship with Arikawa for 10 years.

本劇講述參加了1969年東京大學安田講堂攻防戰的女性活動家有川三奈，偶然邂逅了貧苦學生白井真一郎，兩人墜入了愛河之後卻被迫各奔東西。轉眼間30年過去了，三奈已經成為某大醫院的經營者，而真一郎也已經從大藏官僚轉到了與黨的政協會長。三奈的兒子阿崇和真一郎的女兒尚子又在命運的指引下邂逅了，於是命運的齒輪開始轉動……
